Computer integration company VCE announced today new solutions in its lineup of converged infrastructure systems, including a new data centre architecture, platforms and a major Vision Software update.
The Richardson, TX-based company is launching the VCE Vscale Architecture, which allow for the integration of systems and data center elements in a VCE environment.
Meanwhile, it is also releasing a new line of converged systems dubbed VxBlock, which will offer a choice between VMware NSX or Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure for software-defined networking functionality.
Lastly, version 3.0 of VCE’s Vision Intelligent Operations software is the first major update to the program, which has been expanded to provide “unified intelligence across multiple VCE converged infrastructure systems – either independent or as part of a Vscale architecture – enabling efficient multi-system management and converged operations at scale.”
According to VCE, this is all part of a “major expansion” in its hybrid cloud strategy.
“Once we got away from the joint venture model, our innovation plans opened up a bit,” said Chris Sullivan, vice president of global channels and alliances at VCE. He made reference to Cisco, which reduced its ownership in VCE to just 10 per cent late last year.
“It was more healthy and agreed upon, and allowed VCE to innovate and satisfy customer requirements more freely,” Sullivan added.
In addition to offering customers more choice, the new solutions value simplification and integration above all else, in other words, the new products will integrate with older VCE infrastructure. Even Vision Intelligent Operations 3.0 will work without completely new hardware.
These products will also tie into VCE’s channel sales, which, at 80 per cent of the company’s business, continues to grow faster than the rest of the company, Sullivan said.
“The mission of this technology is to free up resources from IT which used to require countless bodies to manage these systems,” said Sullivan. “As we tie it together, we’re understanding the customer problems and integrating new technologies into the ecosystem.”
