SAN JOSE, Calif. – BEA Systems announced the general availability of WebLogic Server 10, an application server based on the Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE) 5.
WebLogic Server 10, with support also for EJB 3.0, is designed to enable developers and IT managers to accelerate and radically simplify the development of Java applications and services.
The product also includes significantly updated core Web services technologies, the company said, as well as enhancements in the area of security, and provides better interoperability with leading proprietary and open-source platforms.
The included Eclipse-based tooling, BEA Workshop for WebLogic Platform 10, can provide developers with the tooling they can use to quickly develop and manage projects.
Additionally, Version 10 delivers improved clustering, service migration and several other uptime and performance enhancements designed to help customers increase application availability and achieve next-to-zero downtime.
BEA said it has been working closely with HP so that WebLogic Server, when paired with HP Integrity servers, delivers a strong hardware/software combination that is designed to provide customers with flexibility and superior performance at a low total cost of ownership.
“WebLogic Server delivers leading application performance as demonstrated by the impressive benchmark records and industry recognition the product has achieved,” said Michelle Weiss, vice-president of marketing, Business Critical Systems, HP.
“With the significant performance advances in version 10, HP is working with BEA closely to provide HP Integrity server customers with even greater flexibility, availability and bottom-line business value.”
