Westcon adds to its security portfolio

Value added distributor Westcon Group has inked a deal with Guidance Software to bolster its cyber-security line card.

The head of Westcon’s security practice, Andrew Warren, said new security exploits and threat vectors are continuously evolving, causing enterprises of all sizes to look for the latest, most innovative security solutions on the market.

Warren, who is also a vice president at the company, said the distributor is committed to arming security solution providers with products that are effective in today’s threat environment and Guidance Software enhances critical end-point security portfolio, which addresses one of the newer threat vectors.

For example, in Gartner’s November 2014 Competitive Landscape report, Guidance Software was recognized as an end-point detection and response (EDR) tools market leader. The company’s EnCase Endpoint Security solutions deliver analytics to detect unknown threats and incident response.

Other features include:

With Guidance Software, Westcon now has security relationships with Blue Coat, Cisco Sourcefire, Cisco ThreatGRID and HP.

The strategy behind Westcon’s security practice is to connect specialty vendors such as Guidance Software to solution providers focused on security solutions. The practice helps drive success globally by offering high-value expertise and innovation for solution providers and vendors through business enablement, demand generation and thought leadership.

Westcon also provides product evaluation, pre-design and planning to technical enablement for solution providers. Westcon currently ships to more than 100 countries, but the distributor is expanding in a number of emerging markets within Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Northern Africa.
