CDN has learned that Siobhan Byron has been named the new vice-president and general manager of Westcon Canada.
Byron, the former president and head of managed services for Top 100 Solution Provider Forsythe Technology Canada replaces Dan Forbes who has moved to the U.S. to take on a business development position at Westcon sister company Comstor.
Initially Forsythe, which is an employee-owned and operated solution provider established in Skokie, Ill., started with just two people in Canada. Under Byron’s leadership Forsythe became a nationwide presence with operations in Toronto, Calgary, Winnipeg, Vancouver, and a virtual office in Edmonton. A major reason for the expansion was through the acquisition of security provider Information Security Technology, Inc. (IST), of Minnesota, which had offices in Canada.
Byron also served as Forsythe’s managed services chief where she developed the strategy behind attaching managed services to end-to-end solutions. The Forsythe managed services offering improved customer control over security polices, for example.
“Customers are looking to focus on their core business and by taking a certain piece of that and make sure it’s up and running and running properly is where Forsythe can help. Customers see a cost benefit and it helps them focus on their core business,” Byron said in a preview interview.
The appointment of Byron comes when the value-added distributor forged a new distribution agreement with Vocalcom and CA Technologies to expand both its contact centre and IT management portfolio.
