Storage hardware company Western Digital has expanded its WD Red WD Green line of 3.5-inch network attach storage (NAS) hard drives with the release of two low-priced 6TB capacity hard drives.
The WD Red 6TB hard drive is designed for medium and large enterprise markets and is priced at $299. The WD Green 6TB hard drive is meant for consumer storage needs and is priced at $279. The drives
The company also released a new 5TB hard drives for both lines.
With the release, WD Red hard drives now ship in 1TB to 6TB capacities.
The WD Red line also get increased performance with NASware 3.0 which enables support for up to eight bay NAS systems with no negative impoact on performance. The Red drives also feature 3D Active Balance Plus, a balance control technology meant to improve drive performance and reliability.
WD Red customers also get 24/7 dedicated support.
The WD Green hard drives integrate with Western Digital;s My Cloud, My Cloud EX2, My Cloud EX4, and My Cloud Mirror personal cloud storage as well as My Book and My Book Duo external drive solutions. The WD Greens are also compatible with equipment from Western Digital orinibal equipment manufacturer NAs partners.
New WD Red Pro hard drives are also available in 2TB to 4TB capacities. The line is ideal for medium to large business environments and supports eight to 16 bay NAS systems.
