The 2013 Channel Elite Awards represents something special because they are peer awards. These special solution providers are leaders in their field in areas such as Cloud, Mobile, Enterprise, Mid-Market, Small Business, Managed Services, and Service. CDN also celebrates one channel partner as the solution provider of the year for a body of work. In this slideshow you will see the photos of the Gold winners in each category.
Clear Concepts was named the 2013 CDN Solution Provider of the Year. The Winnipeg-based solution provider went over and above its own capabilities to provide essential IT services to several remote communities.
On hand to accept the award was from Tech Data Canada president Rick Reid is Phil Proctor, the managing director of the company. Clear Concepts made IT services that we in the channel take for granted such as servers, network devices, desktop monitoring and maintenance, help desk, virtualization, wireless, hosted exchange, back up, Web site design, and security and made them a vital part of the growth and well-being of small communities separated by many kilometres.
Ideaca of captured the Gold award for Best Cloud Solution by empowered a private non-profit organization in the music industry to get closer to Canadian singer and songwriters. The solution provider developed a system for handling and managing artist and applicant documents such as grants, the status of grants, grant repayments and workflow process. The solution featured a CRM with workflow management, and a document reporting system all on a hybrid cloud. With this the staff and the artists at this non-profit can access all documents either on-premise or remotely giving them more time to make beautiful music. OnX and Insite Computer Group won the Silver and Bronze award respectively.

The gold winner for Best Managed Services Solution is OnX of Toronto. The company had the unique position to sell and service an IT vendor company SAS. One of the reasons why SAS chose this Top 100 solution provider was that it was capable of delivering the analytics of tomorrow as a hosted model today. This company also understood SAS’s pain points and worked alongside the company’s IT staff to ensure met all their goals for redundant hardware, backup, security, around the clock monitoring and support. The managed services provided SAS employees with more agility and significant cost savings from on-premise hardware.

Montreal-based Orckestra got the Gold award for Best Mobile Solution because they made sure this high profile pizza maker got their pizzas delivered well before that 30 minute deadline. This multi-phased project featured a new customer transaction system and call centre technology that has eliminated system crashes. The company also created a mobile/tablet-based ordering system, which was dramatically improved the overall customer experience. Montreal’s Acceo Solutions Inc. and Mississauga, Ont.’s Infinite IT Solutions won the Bronze and Silver awards respectively.

Compugen is a multiple Channel Elite Award recipient has captured the Gold price for service by being part of a global information management software vendor’s support help desk network. Richmond Hill, Ont.’s Compugen provided front-line support to more than 18,000 customers worldwide in English and 11 other languages.
Audcomp of Burlington, Ont. and Conpute of Oshawa, Ont. won the Silver and Bronze award respectively.

Habanero Consulting Group of Vancouver is one of the up and coming solution providers in Canada. The company has recently expended to Toronto won the Gold award for dramatically improving B.C.’s largest privately owned energy utility keep the lights on and warm the homes of more than a million people in the province. They did it by developing an Information Request System that customizes the workflow to better manage large numbers of individual tasks. This system increased accountability and productivity.
Orckestra and FlexITy Solutions Inc. won the Silver and Bronze award respectively.

Mississauga, Ont.-based former Solution Provider of the Year Infinite IT Solutions became the Mid-Market winner by using an all Canadian approach. The company built their cloud with infrastructure from the Telecom Hotel in Toronto and SunGard Availability Services data centre in Mississauga. This approach enabled them to deliver an on-demand, elastic solution that can scale to any size customer. This all Canadian offering met the needs of its customer and gave them an more secure, elastic, stable solution that dramatically reduced their costs. Compugen and IT Weapons won the Silver and Bronze awards respectively.

Winnipeg-based Clear Concepts won its second Channel Elite Award of the night by acting fast. The Opaskwayak Health Authority had a tough time getting Doctors for their rural community. This was leading to several healthcare challenges through the small community. To the rescue came Clear Concepts who provided a solution from as simple as new desktops and laptop to a secure network infrastructure. The whole project was done in a week with zero downtime. Communities who did not have a doctor now have one. WebSan Solutions and Itergy won the Silver and Bronze award respectively.

Navantis is already a successful Top 100 solution provider. The Toronto company understands that they cannot rest on their laurels and created an innovative re-branding initiative to go deeper with customers called “The Experts Series”. This series exposed and in some cases introduced emerging technology concepts to customers such as BYOD, the cloud and each series was targeted at vertical markets. The re-branded also contained strong social business activities. The series positioned Navantis as a subject matter expert. The Expert Series led to approximately 20 leads per session and an increase of 40 per cent in new business. Gibraltar Solutions and Sela Canada won the Silver and Bronze award respectively.
