In 2014, IBM Corp. commissioned research company Forrester Inc. to provide a total economic impact study for managed services providers (MSPs) partnering with SoftLayer, an IBM-owned hosting service with data centres in the United States, Asia and Europe. The study investigated the experiences of six mid-sized MSPs from the Americas and EMEA, aggregating their findings into a composite MSP to detail the risks and opportunities of a SoftLayer partnership.
The resulting whitepaper outlines the costs—practice costs, setup costs, and development costs—along with the potential revenue per customer, including hosting, managed services, and customer fees, to make the business case for offering managed services through the SoftLayer infrastructure.
