Good News on IT, Networking, and Security Spending in 2010
Network World
John Oltsik writes about this year’s global IT spending forecasts.
“ESG is in the process of analyzing a mountain of data about 2010 IT spending intentions. It’s a big job as we surveyed 515 mid-market and enterprise organizations in North America and Western Europe, but the data is starting to paint a good picture of what to expect this year. First of all, it appears that IT spending will increase. Just over half of those surveyed said that their organizations will increase IT spending in 2010 as opposed to 43 per cent in 2009. Not an overwhelming change but a statistically signficant change nonetheless.”
Apple ranks highest among Greenpeace’s top tech companies
The loop
Jim Dalrymple reports that Apple has come up on top of Greenpeace’s most recent ranking.
“In its new report, Greenpeace ranked Apple as its No. 1 company. The ranking guide gives consumers an idea of how Greenpeace feels the top 18 consumer electronics companies in the world stack up. The rankings give the companies a gold star for eliminating the most harmful chemicals from their products. The categories listed on the Greenpeace ranking guide are desktops, notebooks, phones and monitors. Apple is the only company to receive a four-star rating. Most companies listed in the chart only received one star – HP picked up two.”
