High up above us, in the cloud, a fierce pricing battle is being waged.
Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) fired a salvo this week by announcing plans to cut Windows Azure storage prices by as much as 28 per cent, building on a 12 per cent prince cut in the spring. According to a report from CRN, Microsoft is following similar moves by its chief cloud rivals, Google and Amazon Web Services.
Google cut its Cloud Storage prices by 20 per cent last month, with Amazon following that with a 25 per cent cut. Google then responded by cutting another 10 per cent from its prices.
It would seem it’s a good time to be in the market for cloud storage.
