PC vendor Acer America is targeting the market of professionals that need a mix of mobility, performance and a large display with two new high-performance notebook models.
The new TravelMate P276 Series notebooks offer 17.3” displays and discrete graphics. Both models feature premium NVIDIA GeForce 840M graphics with 2GB of dedicated DDR3 VRAM, a 128GB solid state drive and additional storage with a 1TB 5400RPM hard drive.
“These fast and powerful notebooks with large displays and discrete graphics were built to deliver high performance to suit mobile customers with graphic intensive computing requirements,” said Kamesh Ramalingam, Acer business manager, in a statement. “Practical features such as a dedicated numeric keypad, a spill resistant keyboard and robust security and management software, make these portable models a great investment for professionals in business and other organizations.”
The P276-MG-75N3 model is powered by a 4th generation Intel Core i7-4510U processor and 16GB DDR3L SDRAM. With pricing starting at $1299, Acer said its aimed at those with demanding computing requirements, such as graphic designers, engineers, consultants and SOHO users.
The P276-MG-52HH model is powered by an Intel Core i5-4210U processor with 8GB DDR3L SDRAM that’s upgradeable to 16GB using two SODIMM modules. Described by Acer as a good fit for accountants, executives and event planners who compare documents side by side, pricing starts at $899.
Both models boast a 17.3”, LED-backlit display boasts with 1600×900 resolution and ComfyView anti-glare technology. There’s a spill-resistant keyboard with an independent standard numeric keypad, support for quality conference calls with an integrated 720p webcam, two built-in stereo speakers and a microphone supported by high-definition audio. A four cell battery advertises up to 6.5 hours of life.
Both models will be available in Canada later this month through the Acer reseller channel.
Why am I not surprised Acer would get cheap with a 128GB SSD. For another $75, you can double the size. 6.5 hours of life is in reality about 4 hours.
