The second generation of Acer’s featherweight S7 ultrabook is now available.
Acer is positioning this ultrabook for two specific markets: the travelling sales executive and the college student. Acer said that the S7 is designed for users who carry their laptop around all day and cannot scrimp performance or battery life.
The S7 comes with an all-white Gorilla glass lid and aluminum design, again suited for the road warrior who is looking for durability.
Other key features to the new S7-392 model include:
• 4th Generation Intel Core i5 or i7 Processor (Haswell);
• improved battery life (by 33 per cent);
• a new keyboard with a deeper keystroke;
• a quieter fan (2nd gen Twin Air Cooling Technology);
• Wireless Display (WiDi) technology for connecting wirelessly to a TV; and
• 8GB of onboard memory.
Since Acer is calling this ultrabook a featherweight model the weight of the product is approximately 2.87 pounds. The S7 comes in two models priced starting at $1,449. This model comes with a 4th Generation Intel Core i5-4200U Processor (1.6GHz with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.6GHz / 3MB L3 cache), 8GB DDR3 dual channel memory and 128GB solid state drive.
The premium S7 is priced at $1,699 and that model has a 4th Generation Intel Core i7-4500U Processor (1.8GHz with Turbo Boost Technology up to 23.0GHz / 4MB L3 cache), 8GB DDR3 dual channel memory, and 256GB solid state drive.
Thin is not always good when it comes to Acer. 2 laptop owners I know with screen problems.
