Acer America is launching a slim new notebook aimed at the education market that will bring touchscreen capability to teachers and students.
Now available in Canada, the Acer TravelMate B115 notebook PC offers 10-point multi-touch support and up to 10 hours of battery life, which is important for an education setting where power outlets are often at a premium in classrooms.

Plus, IT managers will appreciate the powerful security and manageability suite of tools for safeguarding data and managing assets remotely.”
The B115 notebook is powered by an Intel CeleronTM N2940 processor, features 500GB of storage and comes with 4GB of RAM, which can be expanded to 8GB. It’s pre-loaded with Microsoft Windows 8.1. It features an 11.6” ComfyView LCD LED backlit display with HD (1366×768) resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio.
While it measures under one inch thick and weighs just under three pounds, the TravelMate B115 still features a full-size keyboard. Its 10-point multi-touch leverages the intuitive touch functionality of Windows 8.1 operating system, helpful for students working with online text books, maps, photos and presentations.
For the school IT department, the B115 comes with security and management software allowing them to safeguard valuable data and oversee IT assets remotely, including Acer ProShield Manager. Also, Acer Office Manager is a manageability solution which allows IT managers to deploy security policies, monitor IT assets, and schedule maintenance tasks.
The Acer TravelMate B115 will be available in Canada this month starting at $439.
