Apple quietly looking to beef up Canadian channel programs

A pair of job listings on LinkedIn suggest Apple Inc. is looking for channel leaders in the Toronto area.

Apple took to LinkedIn recently in search of a new enterprise mobility partner manager and a strategic partner manager in Toronto, two full-time positions that, according to the job postings, will bring Apple and various partner teams together to support deals.

The postings were uploaded three weeks ago, according to LinkedIn, although strangely, the job descriptions indicate they were actually posted in August. As of this article being published, 46 people have applied for the enterprise mobility partner manager position, while more than 380 people have applied for the strategic partner manager. It’s unclear if Apple is filling vacant positions or expanding its partner initiatives, but it’s obvious, based on the listing, that the mobility partner manager will be focused on “large enterprise customers” at the regional level. Other responsibilities for this role include: on-boarding partners, go-to-market planning with partners and regional Apple teams, demand generation for events, and quarterly business reviews and reporting.

The job posting for the strategic partner manager role is less refined. It lists broad responsibilities such as working with Apple and partner teams and identifying new business opportunities. Apple did not respond to requests for comment.

Apple first rolled out its Mobility Partner Program in 2015 to make their mobile products more attractive to business and bolster its business app marketplace. There’s only one Apple Premium Reseller in Toronto, according to Apple’s website, and that’s Jump+.  Additionally, only four businesses in Toronto are labeled as Apple Premier Partners.
