“A hosted solution allows reduction in up-front costs associated with the new system. The hosted solution allows a variable cost basis rather than the traditional large up-front capital expenditure. The full suite of Cisco Unified Collaboration technologies is available in the hosted offering. This includes everything from call control, unified messaging and presence all the way up to Cisco TelePresence and Enterprise Social Software (Cisco Pulse and Cisco Quad).”
HP boosts EliteBook 8740w with new Nvidia Quadro FX 5000M graphics card

“According to Electronista, HP will soon start shipping the EliteBook 8740w with the option of Nvidia’s newest Quadro FX 5000M GPU. Current graphics card options for this 17-inch HP notebook are Nvidia Quadro FX 2800M, Nvidia Quadro FX 3800M and ATI FirePro M7820. Pricing and a definite release date for this upgraded version of the 8740 hasn’t been announced yet, but the current model starts at $1,999.”
Apple Magic Trackpad: multitouch for desktops; $69

Andrew Nusca describes Apple’s new Magic Trackpad product.
“Magic Trackpad (is) a multi-touch trackpad for desktop computers. Intended for Mac users, the peripheral uses the same technology as the trackpad on the MacBook Pro (which, drawing from personal experience, is quite lovely) – that means all the gestures. Like the MacBook, the entire thing is a button, and clicks accordingly. The wireless device connects to a Mac using Bluetooth, and is about twice the size of a laptop trackpad.”
