Asus Transformer Trio a notebook, tablet and desktop in one

Taiwanese PC vendor Asus made a splash at the Computex trade show in Taipei with a trio of new products, including the Asus Transformer Book Trio.

The vendor describes the Transformer Book Trio as the world’s first portable three-in-one device. It’s a combination notebook, tablet and desktop with an 11/6” detachable display and dual operating systems, allowing it to switch between a Windows 8 desktop, a Windows 8 notebook, and an Android tablet.

In PC station mode it’s attached to a PC dock with its own 4th generation Intel Core i7 processor and 750 GB hard drive, with a connection for an external display. The dock also charges the laptop. In tablet mode itls powered by a 2.0GHz Intel Atom processor and has 64GB of storage, with a 16:9 IPS display with full HD.

“We seek to perfect the balance between engineering and humanity, where every intricate detail echoes our needs for both emotion and function,” said Asus chairman Jonney Shih, in a statement. “This is the ASUS way of Design Thinking, where every idea starts with people and we turn our imagination into a myriad of revolutionary innovations.”

Also new from Asus is the Transformer Pad Infinity, a dual-purpose mobile device that can function as a laptop or a tablet. It features a 1.9GHz NVIDIA Tegra 4 mobile processor based on a quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 CPU and a 72-core GeForce GPU. It boasts a 10.1” LED backlit display, with a 10-point multi-touch interface. The keyboard dock features a multi-touch touchpad, USB 3.0, and a SDXC card reader.

Finally,Asus has launched a wireless router. The RT-AC68U AC1900 is a dual-band 802.11ac router with a 1900 MBps combined data rate that uses Asus AiRadar technology for a stronger signal and wider coverage area. It also features a router to router synch mode to synchronize files on attached USB storage without need for a switched-on PC on either end.
