Calligo, a UK-based global cloud solution provider, has purchased 3 Peaks Inc., a well-recognized solution provider in Burlington, Ont. 3 Peaks also has an office in Vancouver. The deal marks a first step in Calligo’s North American expansion strategy.
Existing 3 Peaks customers will not see any level drop off of service and will gain access to the extended capabilities and data privacy enabled services of Calligo.
Julian Box, Calligo’s CEO, said acquiring 3 Peaks as part of the company’s continuing growth strategy puts a firm focus on North America and this acquisition will allow Calligo to provide GDPR-enabled infrastructure and services to clients based there.
GDPR is the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation and its been heralded as one of the most important data privacy regulations in the last two decades. The GDPR becomes official in 216 days.
“We know that 3 Peaks’ excellent reputation for customer-focused service delivery will make this a great acquisition, giving us a superb team, respected new clients while expanding our capabilities into this exciting market,” he said.
Calligo was established in 2011 and besides its focus on GDPR, it also has an emphasis on data privacy and residency for cloud. The company currently has dealings in Jersey, Guernsey, Switzerland, Singapore, Bermuda, Luxembourg and the U.K and is making its first foray into North America via Canada.
Ian Clark, CEO, 3 Peaks, said: “We are very excited to have concluded this agreement with such a respected and innovative business as Calligo. Calligo’s deep commitment and understanding of data privacy means our clients will benefit from their expertise and unique service offerings, while continuing to enjoy the highest standards of local support.”
3 Peaks started out as a solution provider and over time turned into a cloud solution provider by providing POP email. Along the way, 3 Peaks made four acquisitions and have built cloud offerings for the Toronto and Vancouver markets. 3 Peaks offer a complete set of services including email, Web site hosting, backups and infrastructure as a service.
Box added, Investcorp Technology Partners backed this acquisition investment and are actively looking to execute further strategic add-on acquisitions over the coming months as part of Calligo’s expansion strategy.
