CompCom launches BYOD enablement service

Top 100 Solution Provider CompuCom today launched a suite of end-user enablement services that provide companies with the ability to support an increasingly mobile, technology-smart workforce that values the integration of consumer technologies into the workplace.

Tony Doye, CompuCom’s CEO, said the entry of consumer technology devices into the workplace presents companies with an unprecedented opportunity to increase productivity and employee satisfaction, if properly harnessed and enabled. “That is what CompuCom’s new suite of services is designed to deliver.”

Bring-Your-Own-Devices (BYOD) present a number of new challenges to corporate IT departments, Doye added, including how to enable applications and access to corporate information while maintaining the same secure environment they do for company issued devices.

According to Gartner, “the rise of ‘bring your own device’ programs is the single most radical shift in the economics of client computing for business since PCs invaded the workplace.” CompuCom’s new suite of services support smartphones, tablets and other consumer and corporate technology devices through a flexible mix of traditional onsite and virtual services that provide increased end-user productivity and lower management costs.

Sam Gross, CTO at CompuCom, said that anytime, anywhere, any device access to corporate resources is becoming a requirement of business users, not just a want. Enabling users in a way that is both secure and supported, provides the foundation for a radical shift in employee productivity.

As an example, we are enabling progressive companies by using ‘personas’ to associate a unique identity to end-users based on their role and needs. That persona traverses multiple devices and locations, and defines the services that user receives in order to optimize their productivity.

CompuCom End-User Enablement services include traditional and next-generation services designed to work in concert to optimize end-users experience and productivity, while managing costs and security. Key services include:

  • 1. Personas and Communities Services: Focused on aligning the end-user with the right set of services to optimize their productivity. Our four-phase approach and proprietary toolset enable companies to implement a Persona-Based Modeling (PBM) framework within their organization. The PBM framework facilitates capturing, reporting, designing and implementing a persona-based services model that realigns how end-user services are delivered to best serve the specific needs of their segmented user community, while optimizing total cost of ownership. In the future, personas will be leveraged across common industries and communities.
  • 2. Device Services: Supports the entire lifecycle of end-user devices, from acquisition through disposition, as well as management of BYOD initiatives. Our proprietary device management services and tools help reduce device management costs, improve business alignment, and increase security and compliance.
  • 3. Application Marketplace Services (AMS): Enables companies to understand their application portfolio, capabilities, and costs for a clearer view of their IT environment. It includes both Application Rationalization to seamlessly gather application data and provide a structured methodology to make business decisions about their application portfolio and Application Management to assist in packaging, testing and distribution of new applications that meet both technical and business needs. In just weeks, our device management tools can give companies the intelligence needed to make more accurate, timely, and informed decisions about their portfolio.
  • 4. Workplace Services: Offers structured and flexible on-site and specialty services for end-user and device support. On-site services range from basic Install, Move, Add, Change, De-Install (IMACD) and Break/Fix services to more complicated print management, video surveillance technology support, and digital signage support. Our specialty services include industry-specific support, such as POS for retail organizations. CompuCom’s well-trained workforce can help companies consolidate support so they can improve the sustainability of their workplace solutions and gain greater control over soaring costs and inefficiencies.
