Dell joins the growing list of vendors offering Windows 10 on its enterprise devices, with the announcement today that two of its Wyse thin clients, the 7000 and 5000 series will feature Windows 10 IoT Enterprise.
The Wyse 7490-Z90Q10 and 5490-D90Q10 will be available starting July 29. The machines feature quad-core AMD G-Series processors, built in security, namely a Trusted Platform Module (TPM), BitLocker Drive Encryption, Secure Boot, and Windows Defender, and a choice of management options including the Wyse Device Manager software or Microsoft’s System Center Configuration Manager.
Dell’s updates did not stop there, however. Version 8.6 of the company’s vWorkspace software supports not only Microsoft Hyper-V and Azure, but now also Windows 10-based VMs. The company says that it has improved connectivity for Windows, Linux and Chrome devices to make the experience more native than through HTML5.
There are also convenience tweaks, including the ability for users to drag files from physical PCs to virtual desktops, as well as application layering for VDI. The update will be released July 31.
Lastly, Dell’s 8.1 update to its Unified Communications Command Suite (UCCS) will include analytics reporting for Office 365 for Exchange Online as well as Cisco’s Unified Communications Manager. This update will be released today.
