Motorola XOOM WiFi for $599 is $200 too much
ZD Net
James Kendrick writes about Motorola Xoom pricing.
“Motorola has officially announced that the WiFi-only XOOM tablet will go on sale at several retailers on March 27th for $599. This entry-level XOOM model will be sold at Best Buy, Costco, Amazon, Walmart, Staple’s, Sam’s Club and RadioShack. This is good news and bad news for those wanting a XOOM without 3G/4G connectivity; while it is good this model is going on sale, it is $200 too much to compete with the entry-level iPad 2 that is selling like hotcakes.”
Final Version of Firefox 4 Coming March 22
Mashable
Stan Schroeder shares details about Mozilla’s final version of its Firefox 4 Web browser.
“If everything goes according to plan (i.e. if developers don’t find any particularly problematic bugs), the final version of Firefox 4 should be released March 22, according to a message posted on Firefox’s official forum. ‘As of now, there are no known issues that would stop us from shipping RC1 as final. (…) March 22nd is the day we would ship,’ writes Mozilla’s Damon Sicore.”
Leaked retailer info: HP Touchpad arriving in June for $499
Ars Technica
Ryan Paul writes about HP’s upcoming Touchpad tablet.
“The 10-inch touch-enabled device has a dual-core Snapdragon processor, 1024×768 screen resolution, and 1GB of RAM. It will be the first tablet to ship with webOS, the Linux-based mobile operating system that HP obtained in its acquisition of Palm. One of the big questions that HP left unanswered during the press event last month was the product’s price. The early rumours after the Touchpad’s official unveiling suggested that the WiFi-only version would debut for roughly $600. A product release schedule leaked this week by a major US retailer, however, indicates that pricing will range from $499-599, with different tiers based on storage capacity.”
