Android 2.x Grabs 70% Of Android Market Share

“The big issue with Android, versus an mobile OS like Apple iOS, is lack of control over which Android releases hardware companies choose to embrace. Apple has clearly set guidelines on what versions of their phones get which version of their operating system, but Google doesn’t dictate that way in the Android market. So the result is fragmentation among Android devices and OS versions.”

Bing passes Yahoo, now a distant second behind Google

“Microsoft’s Bing has passed Yahoo to become the number two search engine in the US, according to the latest data from The Nielsen Company. In August, Bing grew from 13.6 per cent to 13.9 per cent of the US search market while Yahoo shrunk from 14.3 per cent to 13.1 per cent. Meanwhile, Google’s share was up from 64.2 per cent in July to 65.0 per cent. Combined, Bing and Yahoo had a search share of 27.0 per cent, still less than half of Google’s.”
