The latest Samsung tables are expected to hit Canadian stores before the end of the month with something every mobile worker wants: Less to carry.

Samsung said the Galaxy Tab S family will be its lightest and thinnest tablets yet, with features for multitasking.

The devices come in two sizes: 8.4-inch and 10.5-in., with WQXGA (2560×1600, 16:10) Super AMOLED displays.

The smaller unit weighs 294 g; while the larger one weighs 465g. (By comparison the iPad Air, with a 9.7-in screen, weighs 469g). These are Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac only versions. Those with LTE weigh slightly more.

BestBuy.ca and others are taking advance orders with pickup June 27. The 10.5-in model costs $519.99, while the 8.9-in. costs $419.99.

For business users there’s a Cisco WebEx Meetings app (six months free trial for U.S. buyers) and Hancom Mobile Office for productivity.

Although the official Web site doesn’t say so, at least one media report says both units include Samsung’s Knox security capability for enterprises.

However, there is a built-in fingerprint scanner for secure access.

It runs Android 4.4. Both models have 8 MP rear cameras and twin speakers. There’s a choice of white or titanium bronze.
