Enomaly Inc., a Toronto-based developer of cloud computing solutions, is using its infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) platform to help partners deliver business efficiencies and cost-savings to end-users, both inside and out of a data centre.
Reuven Cohen, founder and chief technologist at Enomaly, said the company’s flagship products are its elastic computing solutions. As he explains it, Enomaly’s elastic computing platform (ECP) is a way for businesses to “take a virtual machine and scale it based on capacity within the data centre and remotely outside of it. Virtual machines can be orchestrated together, they can be used to provision additional resources in the form of virtual machines and they can also scale.”
“This is offered through an IaaS model,” he said. “It’s a cloud computing platform that other (companies) can create infrastructures on.”
Although it’s a self-funded Canadian-based company with about 15 employees, Cohen says today, there are over 15,000 companies that use Enomaly’s ECP. He also says that because this is offered through the cloud, most of its business comes from outside of North America. He notes that about one per cent of its business today comes from Canada. He has hopes to increase this percentage with help from Enomaly’s Canadian partners, one of which includes Mississauga-based Centrilogic, a managed IT services provider.
Enomaly’s ECP, primarily targets enterprise businesses. The platform allows businesses to both operate enterprise clouds and also provide hosting services.
Enomaly’s ECP solutions are available in Community, Data Centre, and Service provider editions, on a pay-as-you-go-and-grow basis, Cohen says. Using ECP, businesses are able to manage virtual machines through a single, easy-to-user interface. With ECP, end-users can start, stop and even reboot their virtual machines on any host, no matter where they are located.
“ECP helps bridge computing tasks with data centres, carriers and service cloud providers,” Cohen said.
Robert, Offley, president and CEO at Centrilogic, says the company’s offering Enomaly’s Service Provider edition to its customers.
“We’re the IaaS provider, so we use Enomaly’s software solutions to facilitate our cloud services (in our own data centres) for end-users,” Offley said. “End-users don’t have to sign long-term contracts, so it’s better utilization, efficiencies and cost-savings all around.”
Cohen says ECP is a very viable option for any company that’s looking to build a cloud computing solution.
“Software distribution is changing,” Cohen said. “That’s why we have a global network of hosting providers, who in turn, are offering other cloud-related services to their customers. ECP allows customers to have a new line of revenue that in turn, offers them more opportunities.”
