Chambers: No mega acquisitions for now

Cisco Subnet says that according to Reuters, a major acquisition is not in the works for Cisco anytime soon.
“According to Reuters, Cisco CEO John Chambers said no negotiations with large companies are underway at the moment, but that the company would ‘never say never.’ Instead, Cisco is focused on small and midsized buys.”
ThinkPad X200 reviews: Great ultraportable…but it’s no X300

The good: LED-backlit widescreen display, 64GB SSD now optional, and better performance and battery life than the current X300 courtesy of Centrino 2. The bad: No internal optical drive, no touch-pad, weighs about the same as the X300.”
GPS tracking slapped on laptop recovery service

John Leyden explains a GPS tracking solution which Absolute Software has come out with to assist with laptop theft-recovery and asset tracking.
“The availability of geolocation tracking for Computrace (software) will allow asset managers to track GPS-enabled laptops to within ten metres and view their location using Google Maps technology. The technology will also speed recovery of missing or stolen computers, being easier to use than previous IP address-based tracking technology.”
