HP thinks big about printing; acquires NUR Macroprinters

Hewlett-Packard today announced the acquisition of NUR Macroprinters, a wide-format inkjet printer supplier, in the hopes that the acquisition will help position HP as a leader in commercial printing and graphic design. Larry Dignan reports.
“ HP’s strategy is to focus on the graphic design crowd with its printers. What Adobe is to graphic designers in terms of software, HP hopes to become for hardware.”
Nintendo kills Wii ads due to console shortage

According to James Sherwood, due to a shortage of Wii gaming systems, Nintendo will be replacing its TV and print ads with ones for its DS Lite handheld console.
“A spokesman for the company told Marketing Week that demand for the console is already too high and that it wants to take a “responsible stance this Christmas and not fuel demand…Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime recently claimed that the company wasn’t limiting availability of consoles to keep demand high.”
