Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE: HPQ) has a new solutions-based partner program, called AllianceOne, to further support its alliance partners across solution areas including servers, storage, networking and professional services.
Sal Giulione, director of alliance and industry solutions for HP’s enterprise business in Canada, said the company’s currently looking for more Canadian partners to add to the program, which is made up of three partner tiers, AllianceOne Premier Partners, AllianceOne Select Partners and AllianceOne Partners.
The AllianceOne program was announced last month and Giulione said the program was built on the foundation of the Developer Solution Partner Program (DSPP), which has now been “airlifted” in its entirety under the AllianceOne program. All DSPP partners have been transitioned into AllianceOne.
“We’ve put everything from the DSPP and all of the benefits into one broad alliance umbrella, which is now called AllianceOne,” he said. “We wanted to have an integrated program that would address our alliance partners’ requirements and that would also create a framework that would demonstrate that strategic alliances are core to our business.”
Under AllianceOne, partners are able to integrate and test solutions across servers, storage, management software, networking, power and cooling and security and services, Giulione explained. The AllianceOne program is open to software developers, independent hardware vendors, independent software vendors (ISVs) and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Select or Premier-level status is by invitation-only.
Through the program, HP alliance partners receive access to things such as sales and marketing resources, discounts on HP products, access to software downloads and development kits. AllianceOne partners also receive access to community forums and can also take advantage of free consulting services that are provided by third-party executives.
Giulione said HP doesn’t disclose the number of partners in each tier, but did say that in the base AllianceOne program there are “multiple tens of thousands of partners around the world.”
In his role at HP, Giulione said he and his team are in charge of managing the company’s strategic alliance program and also HP’s new AllianceOne program from a Canadian standpoint.
“In Canada, we’d like to create more interest and get more work going in the base-level and regional, middle (Select) tier,” he said. “Getting more regional players is important to us in Canada and if we can move them into that global (Premier) status, that would be even better.”
