HP webOS development effort unfazed by layoffs

James Kendrick writes that despite layoffs, development of the platform will continue.
“Companies making big changes in direction often offer retention bonuses to key employees to make sure they don’t leave for greener pastures. This has been the case at HP, with the company offering bonuses to webOS developers who stick around. The team is still intact due to these bonuses, and hard at work on continued development of the OS. The company would not confirm this, but multiple sources have told us the bonuses were offered soon after HP announced the impending shutdown of the webOS hardware business.”
Symantec eDiscovery survey reveals new channel opportunities

“Symantec would love for partners to recommend its own platform (especially since Symantec has focused on social media eDiscovery specializations) but there are lots of other eDiscovery offerings out there from companies including IBM and CommVault.”

“The device features at least two ports on the bottom edge – presumably micro USB and HDMI – and the word ‘Motorola’ can – just about – be seen on the top left. It is also claimed to be running Android, with the Honeycomb camera app faintly visible on screen.”
