Linux desktop vendor Xandros has netted a crucial IBM certification for its new Xandros Linux Server 2.0.
Xandros engineers worked together with IBM’s DB2 Group to put Xandros Server through a set of compatibility tests that gave IBM the confidence to officially support the DB2 9 Universal Database on the Xandros Server 2.0 environment, the company said.
The certification with help Xandros’ server product to address all business sizes for a standards-based server solution to run mission-critical database applications.
Andreas Typaldos, Xandros CEO said the DB2 9 certification is an important requirement for many enterprise customers running industrial strength database applications. Delivering the certification in a standards-based Debian Linux environment with integrated BRU backup facilities also provides unprecedented security and freedom of choice to SMBs, he said.
