ZD Net
Rachel King shares some details about Acer’s Aspire Revo 3700 nettop product.
“The Aspire Revo 3700 is fairly compact (apparently ‘1 liter’ in size), so it should fit well on most desks and other entertainment set-ups. It can also be mounted to the back of ‘any’ LCD or TV.”
India’s $35 Android tablet reportedly on track for January launch
Engadget
Donald Melanson writes about India’s $35 Android-based tablet device.
“It seemed like a bit of a stretch from the beginning, but it looks like India’s $35 Android tablet is intent on proving the skeptics wrong — the Indian government has just announced that it’s awarded the manufacturing contract to HCL Technologies (makers of the once world’s cheapest laptop), and that the first batch of tablets are slated to be available by January 10th. That initial run will reportedly only include the seven-inch model that we’ve been seeing all along, but there’s also apparently five-inch and nine-inch versions planned for launch at a later date. We also presume that the tablet is still hanging onto that $35 price tag (for university students, at least), but that key detail is curiously absent from this latest announcement.”
Intel Sandy Bridge preps for AMD Fusion fracas
The Register
Rik Myslewski writes about AMD’s upcoming Fusion chips.
“AMD is aiming its first Fusion chips at the low-power end of the market – it plans to release its ‘Ontario’ APUs late this year, based on the new ‘Bobcat’ core, and targeted at such markets as netbooks and ultrathins. Bobcat is AMD’s hopeful Atom-killer – and being an out-of-order chip, it does have at least that one clear performance-enhancing distinction from Intel’s in-order low-power offering.”
