While this is only a U.S. initiative, Ingram Micro (NYSE: IM)is trying to redefine itself in the value area of the market with the announcement that its will launch two, integrated technology divisions specifically for the mid market, as well as adding more resources throughout its broadline distribution business.
The new Ingram Micro Advanced Technology and Advanced Computing Divisions are intended to deliver more opportunity and specialization to channel partners, just in the U.S., who market, sell and support higher-end technology solutions and services.
The higher-end solutions will focus on unified communications, virtualization, data centre infrastructure, network security and storage.
Keith Bradley, senior executive vice president and president, Ingram Micro North America, said the addition of these two overarching technology divisions allows Ingram to provide the specialization, high customer touch and dedicated resources necessary to further advance our channel partners into mid market opportunities and help them capture more profitable growth.
The Advanced Technology Division will be led by Ingram’s vice president and GM, Ken Bast. The Advanced Computing Division will be led by vice president and GM Scott Zahl. Both divisions have access to the company’s partner shared service teams such as credit, customer service, licensing, marketing, purchasing, IT professional services and technical support.
