Wave goodbye to Palm?

John Cox writes that according to Douglas McIntyre, an editor at 24/7 WallSt, a Web site for equity investors, Palm is one of 12 vendors “doomed to (extinction) over the next 12 months.”
“The upcoming Palm Pre smartphone, exclusively on Sprint’s network, is the ‘one last chance to become viable’ but the odds are all against it, according to the analysis. ‘Palm won’t be in business in a year,’ McIntyre writes.”
Seagate’s Barracuda goes low-power

Chris Mellor writes about Seagate’s new lower-power consumption version of its 3.5-inch Barracuda desktop drive.
“This 2TB SATA green drive spins at 5900rpm, which according to Seagate gives it a performance edge over competing drives in its class which spin at 5400rpm. It draws three watts when idle and 5.6 watts when operating. This Barracuda LP drive is available in 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB versions, and targeted at use in low-power PCs, external drive and small office/home office (SOHO) network-attached storage (NAS) applications.”
