Jim Estill, president and CEO of Synnex Canada is leaving the organization, according to Synnex Corp. (NYSE: SNX).
Estill, a highly respected executive in the channel, plans to resign from distributor at the end of May 2009.
Mitchell Martin, the current president of Synnex Canada, will take over Estill’s duties.
Officially Synnex said that Estill was leaving to pursue other opportunities, but CDN will follow up with Estill to provide readers with an update.
“While my decision to leave Synnex Canada is based solely on my desire to pursue the next challenge in my career, I am pleased to hand over the reins of Synnex Canada to Mitchell, who has proven himself ready for the responsibility,” said Estill, a one-time CDN Newsmaker of the year,in a prepared statement.
“I am very confident in the senior leadership team currently in place in Canada and believe that, together with Mitchell’s leadership, this team will continue to perform extremely well for our vendors and customers and take Synnex Canada to the next level of growth and industry leadership. Also, I have the utmost respect and admiration for my fellow Synnex associates and management team and am confident that Synnex Corp. is well positioned for continued growth and success in the future.”

Through his vision and leadership, Jim has built a strong and seasoned team in Canada that will continue his legacy and best business practices. Martin joined Synnex through the acquisition of Merisel Canada, Inc. in September 2001. With over twenty years of industry experience, Martin advanced through the ranks of Merisel Canada through various positions in Product Management, Marketing and Sales. In 1999, Martin became the senior vice president of product and inventory management for Merisel Americas, Inc. based in El Segundo, California. In 2000, he returned to Canada as president of Merisel Canada.
