Ian Hardy has a piece on MobileSyrup.com about the Koodo Mobile’s LTE service. He writes: Koodo Mobile ever so quietly launched their LTE service yesterday. Their first device is the Apple iPhone 5 and as for the specific coverage, it’s the same as parent-company TELUS’. They currently list various locations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland & Labrador, New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia.
This is an interesting development for Koodo and its smart of them to piggy-back on all the excitement created by the release of iPhone 5, which will be their first smartphone offering.
The company’s goal is to give 25 million Canadians access. Given the vast expanse of Canada Koodo may reach remote areas of the country. What makes this interesting is that the activation of these device, not to mention the supply will come from the channel because the Apple store will not be open for business in Churchill, Man., as an example or other smaller towns. This service will more than likely be filled by the local solution provider.
