KPMG LLP, widely known for its audit, tax and corporate advisory services, has bought a Toronto-based boutique technology implementation and consulting firm to round out its service offerings.
The global professional services company recently acquired Trecata Corp., a full-service management consulting firm that provides implementation and maintenance services for Oracle’s E-Business Suite. Terms of the deal were not released.
“We’re primarily focused on boardroom strategy building,” said Yvon Audette, national partner-in-charge, IT advisory, at KPMG. “Trecata expands our capabilities in the business system side, particularly HR and e-business.”
“Trecata is presently servicing Canadian clients and this will continue to be their primary focus, but we have a global community and they will be part of that network,” he said.
Trecata was founded in 2001. It has clients in the financial services, high tech industry, public sector and transportation industry. The company has around 16 full-time employees, a top management team of five and a host of external contractors across Canada.
Much of its business is concentrated in the Southern Ontario region, although it also serves companies in other parts of Canada and has some customers abroad, according to Martin Hatanaka, a principal at Trecata and now director of advisory service for the IT advisory arm of KPMG.
“Through the years, we have operated as a boutique IT services shop,” said Hatanaka. “With KPMG we can accelerate our growth and extend our reach in Toronto, across Canada and globally.”
“This is a perfect business fit,” he said.
