Scott Smith is leaving Lenovo as its Americas president. Smith, who took over from Stephen Ward back in 2005, did not give any official word on why he left his post.
Phone calls to Lenovo Canada and its representatives were not immediately returned to find out if Smith’s exit prolongs the search for a new Canadian leader.
Murray Wright left the Canadian Lenovo presidency in mid-November to run U.S. sales at Tech Data. Wright was hired by Stephen Mungall, Lenovo’s vice-president of worldwide and Americas channels. Under Smith’s tenure, Lenovo sales were flat at best. The company recently reported revenue of US$3.7 billion for the quarter. These results were only a slight increase compared to the same quarter the year before, when Lenovo posted $3.65 billion in revenue. Smith was also plagued by a laptop battery recall.
