John Moore writes about the cloud computing market and what sorts of opportunities there are in the government sector for service providers.
“For service providers, the government’s interest in cloud presents a good news/bad news situation. The predisposition to adopt the cloud and actual evidence of projects bode well for future growth. But breaking into the government market is tough. The sales cycles can be long. And vendors need to be on the appropriate contract vehicles … to have any hope of landing business.”
UC and the converging data-center network

Johna Till Johnson writes about consolidation within the data centre.
“When it comes to consolidating data centers onto a single merged data fabric, iSCSI is the technology of choice. Use is on the rise, especially among smaller and more aggressive companies; 62 per cent of small companies now deploy it, compared with 50 per cent of larger companies. The chief competitor to iSCSI is Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCOE). But fewer than one per cent of organizations deploy FCOE today, and fewer than two per cent plan to deploy it within the next two years.”
