Littleton, Mass.-based high availability and disaster recovery software solution vendor, Marathon Technologies, is looking to further expand its Canadian partner base and coverage across the country this year, Steve Keilen, the company’s vice-president of marketing said.
Marathon Technologies is a 100 per cent channel-driven business and has offices located around the world, Keilen said. The company has about 400 global channel partners and has less than 50 partners in Canada. Keilen says his goal now is to grow the company’s coverage and visibility across Canada.
The majority of its business today comes from the small and mid-sized enterprise customers ranging from businesses in the manufacturing to healthcare to pharmaceutical sectors, Keilen explains.
“We continue to build out our channel and distribution in Canada,” Keilen said. “Most of our partners are centered in Toronto but we’re looking to expand that because we want adequate coverage across Canada.”
To help do this, Keilen says Marathon Technologies will look at getting into more of the general purpose-type of IT infrastructures within businesses to expand further into the mid-sized business market.
Marathon Technologies has a partner program better known as the Infinity Partner Program. Through this, partners have access to 24/7 technical support from the company, marketing and awareness programs and various training courses.
The company is also announcing a new global training and certification program for partners and IT managers this month. The certified training program will be offered through a comprehensive one-day instructor-led course to provide partners with the necessary skills sets they need to sell, deploy and support its flagship everRun software solutions.
Marathon Technologies’ everRun software solution addresses application availability, data protection and data recovery for businesses, Keilen said.
“EverRun reduces downtime that’s associated with an outage because it provides continuous availability of an application in the environment,” he said. “This technology is fault tolerant, so it prevents failures before they occur. EverRun was designed to help prevent outages instead of having to react to them.”
The software works with either Microsoft Windows Server or Citrix XenServer infrastructures, Keilen added.
The company hopes to attract channel partners who are willing, or may already work with both Citrix and Microsoft solutions, he said.
Since Marathon Technologies distributes its products through Ingram Micro, Keilen said the company will be working closely with Ingram’s Microsoft practice to identify other potential partners.
Partners who sell Marathon Technologies’ everRun solutions will see margins north of 20 per cent, Keilen said.
“It’s good margins,” he says. “Every time we talk to a partner and ask about margins and additional services, we get smiles every time.”
