Do you remember J.D. Edwards? J.D. Edwards was an Enterprise Resource Planning software vendor from Denver mainly for IBM systems but the company expanded greatly during its history. J.D. Edwards also referred to as JDE was part of a three-way acquisition deal about a decade ago. It started in 2003 when PeopleSoft acquired JDE. Then Oracle tried to acquire PeopleSoft with JDE in a hostile-style takeover. There was a lot of back and forth, but ultimately Oracle won.
Today, J.D. Edwards products feature prominantly in Oracle’s portfolio branded JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and JD Edwards World. Oracle has confirmed that it will support J.D. Edwards customers and channel partners indefinitely.
This story led me to an interesting blog from Oracle partner and managed services provider Syntax of Montreal. In the blog, it determines the value of a JDE upgrade.
