Storage and data management company NetApp has appointed Bill Lipsin as the new vice president of worldwide channel sales.
In the new role, Lipsin will oversee NetApp’s channel strategy as well as new partner investments that NetApp will be rolling out, the company said.
“Partner program investments include doubling of global partner marketing resources as well as expanded demand- and lead-generation initiatives to accelerate adoption of the NetApp clustered Data ONTAP operating system,” the company said in a statement.
Prior to joining NetApp, Lipsin, who is Canadian, was the vice president of global channels and systems integrators at data and storage networking company Brocade.
His channel experience spans at least eight years. He came into prominence as a channel chief during his stay at the heavily direct focus vendor CA Technologies. While at CA, Lipsin ushered in the company’s Software-as-a-Service channel offering along with an Internet Security service.
Lipsin also developed several new channel program enhancements at CA along with using the vendor’s direct sales force to partner with the channel. He also introduced for the first time at CA a deal registration program.
At NetApp, Lipsin will be reporting to Thomas Stanley, senior vice president of global partner sales and alliances.
