AMD’s new FirePro graphics chips for mobile workstations – the M4000 and M2000 – are now available in HP’s EliteBook 8770w, 8570w and 8470w mobile workstations.
The EliteBooks offer next-generation Intel Core i7 quad-core or i7 or i5 dual-core processors, up to 32 GB of system memory and a design that’s somewhere between stylish and functional.
The HP EliteBook 8770w has a 17-inch screen and offers the highest-performing professional graphics and extreme processing power, and is highly configurable. The more portable HP EliteBook 8570w includes high-end professional graphics, robust processing power and a 15-inch display. HP’s most travel-friendly mobile workstation, the HP EliteBook 8470w, has a 14-inch display.
The M2000 is avaiable in the 8470w, while the 8570w and 8770w can be configured with the M4000. AMD also has a M6000 in its mobiel FirePro line-up, but this isn’t available on HP’s models.
The M2000 has 1GB of GDDR5 RAM over a 64-bit memory interface, and 480 Stream parallel processors. The M4000 has 1 or 2GB of GDDR5 RAM over a 128-bit memory interface, and 512 Stream parallel processors. The M6000 has 2GB of GDDR5 RAM over a 128-bit memory interface, and 640 Stream parallel processors. All allow you to connect two external displays when the laptop is undocked, or four when it’s docked, and support DirectX11, OpenGL 4.2 and OpenCL 1.2.
