HUNTSVILLE, Ala.,– Avocent Corrp. has announced two new products for remote equipment management.
The Longview IP digital workstation extender is described as the first in a line of desktop extension solutions that enable users to access all of the peripherals of a remote computer from anywhere on the corporate TCP/IP LAN.
Physical separation of the keyboard, video and mouse from the computer solves issues such as security, environmental impact on the computer and limited workspace, the company said.
Connecting over IP solves the distant constraints resulting from cabled connections. This is a benefit for many industries, such as industrial operations where hazards such as dust, liquids or vibration can damage a computer, or medical facilities where patient records have to be kept away from public areas.
It includes Ethernet support for using the existing LAN infrastructure, external DVI-I video, USB, speakers and microphone jacks for use with all computer types regardless of operating system, CD quality audio,SSL/128-bit encryption for security and a self-powered transmitter.
The Cyclades ACS Console Server has redesigned remote power capabilities for improved performance for remote management of IT equipment, including the detection and diagnosis of problems allowing for immediate corrective action if required – all in new firmware update.
Upgrades from the previous model include support for Sentry Switched (Cabinet Power Distribution Unit) CDU products by Server Technology, Inc. in addition to Avocent-branded power devices, for simplified centralized management via Avocent’s DSView 3 management software.
Also new is command synchronization across all serial ports for easy and consistent communication with IPDUs.
