Global IT hosting provider Peer 1 Hosting (TSX: PIX) announced a new simplified, performance-based partner program Tuesday aimed at referral partners.
Previously a four-tier, revenue commitment focused program, the new SMART Partner Program is now two-tiered and aims to help referral partners succeed.
The program has no minimum monthly revenue requirement and offers referral partners a monthly commission for the life of original contract. If partners exceed $15,000 in referred monthly recurring revenue, they are upgraded to the SMART+ program. There is no annual partner audit and commission rates will remain steady from month to month, the company says. The updated program also includes dedicated channel representatives for partners, partner portal access for new co-branded sales and marketing materials, and referral events to help with targeted marketing.

“Peer 1 Hosting is committed to our partners and by eliminating the upfront revenue commitment, we believe it gives our partners a better model to do business,” Jose Santos, director of alliance and partner programs at PEER 1 Hosting said in a statement. “We value the relationships that we have with our referral partners and we want to reward those who are high performing. The new SMART program allows us to do that.”
Peer 1’s original partner program launched in September 2008, and combined its legacy referral program with channel programs acquired through ServerBeach and Web.com. The majority of the company’s business is directed through referral partners. In 2010, the company announced its new Channel Sales Division to support the channel community and its partner portal.
