Pivot3 is the latest hyperconvergence vendor that has achieved compatibility certification with Cisco’s Unified Computing System (UCS). The company announced the completion of the certification for its vSTAC OS software on both UCS and UCS Mini.
A member of the Cisco Solution Partner Program, Pivot3 designs hyperconvergence solutions designed to address needs around the Internet of Everything. The company works with channel partners to bring its products to market, and the addition of certification for Cisco UCS expands its potential opportunities.
“Our certification on the Cisco USC and UCS Mini platforms means we can provide customers with increased agility to scale capacity and performance quickly and easily while reducing costs in the data center,” said Ron Nash, CEO of Pivot3, in a statement. “Together, we can automate deployment and other orchestration capabilities enabling customers to continue to simplify management in an easy-to-use UI, which makes both remote and centralized IT staff more productive.”
Pivot3’s vSTAC OS was designed to eliminate the need for an external SAN by delivering up to 84 per cent usable capacity on blades within UCS. Additional benefits, according to the company, include a reduction in cost and complexity related to maintaining external SANs, as well as reducing needed rack space, power, cooling and administrative resources.
“By adapting Pivot3’s vSTAC OS to the UCS and the UCS Mini, we can deliver a carrier-grade, cloud-scale virtualized IT infrastructure solution that unlocks enterprise capabilities, but in a small, extremely efficient form factor while eliminating the need in most cases for an external SAN,” said Brad Ross, vice president of global accounts at Pivot3, in a statement.
For joint Cisco and Pivot3 partners, the combination of Pivot3 vSTAC OS and Cisco UCS could present new opportunities to bring hyperconvergence solutions to the enterprise. According to 451 Research, 86 per cent of enterprises plan to increase their investments in hyperconverged infrastructure this year.
