Atlanta – Rugged handheld mobile computing manufacturer, Psion Teklogix, yesterday launched its new Partner Solutions Database (also known as the Global Solutions Database), an online tool for channel partners to be connected and supported by both the company and its worldwide partner community.
At Psion Teklogix’s Ascend 2007 annual partner conference, a select group of Psion partners were given a glimpse of the new partner-oriented solutions database.
John Ingold, director of solutions groups at Psion, said the company currently has more than 700 partners worldwide and wants to use this new database as a resource to give partners access to a central online community where they can connect with fellow partners.
“The Partner Solutions Database is being launched today and this is the first active iteration of the database that’s available right on our homepage,” Ingold said. “The database will continue to evolve and will also showcase both hardware and software solution offerings. The Partner Solutions Database is also a marketing tool for promoting and selling [partner] solutions globally.”
Ingold also maintains that solutions are the key core of Psion’s business. He advises partners to take advantage of the database because he says it will allow them to offer a broader range of solutions and will also help partners differentiate themselves from other competitors.
“With the database, partners can view related downloads including spec sheets, case studies, technical guides, features and can also view the benefits of solutions, solution images and descriptions. We’re going to continue to add features to this,” Ingold said.
The ultimate goal of the Partner Solutions Database is to allow partners to provide other partners with strategic knowledge that can help fuel sales with their customers in addition to showcasing partner solutions. At the end of the day, Ingold says Psion wants to build and maintain a seamless relationship with its partner community.
“Solutions are a huge differentiator because you’re offering something someone else doesn’t have,” Ingold said. “For that reason, we have a solutions engineering organization dedicated to customer solutions. We have restructured the solutions team to become a global team, working to support worldwide solutions.”
Mike Jachimiec, director of channel sales at Psion Teklogix, said his message to potential partners is simple: “we want to partner very closely with (them),” he said.
“Currently in North America, we have 372 Ascent Plus Partners,” Jachimiec said. “Our partner community is made up of our WMS/SCL partners, regional SIs and our mobile partners. We can’t be everywhere and our partners help us with that [reach].”Jachimiec said the new Partner Solutions Database will be a great asset for Psion and an opportunity for partners to achieve success.
Online sign-up for the Partner Solution Database, will feature a live online submission form which is set to become available in the fourth quarter of this year. Until then, submission forms are currently being completed manually.
Avi Nachmani, president of Applied RFID Solutions Inc., a Vancouver-based Psion partner, said the Psion Partner Solutions Database could help his company gain more exposure in his local and global market.
“This is a great opportunity for our company because I think it will help us increase our visibility in the market place and with our customers,” Nachmani said. “It will help us deploy our RFID technology with Psion’s Workabout Pro [product] because it’s something that’s still fairly new out there.”
