HTC affirms most of their 2010 smartphones will include Android 2.2

Rachel King writes about HTC’s plans for its smartphones and Google Android.
“HTC has confirmed a major commitment to their current clientele and potential future customers with the declaration that ‘most phones’ released under their brand name in 2010 will be powered by Google Android OS 2.2. According to Pocket-lint, HTC will be implementing the highly anticipated Android 2.2 (a.k.a. Froyo) update later this year, and possibly as soon as the end of the summer.”
iPad will drive over 46 million yearly tablet shipments by 2014

Jim Dalrymple shares IDC’s predictions about global tablet adoption rates over the next few years.
“According to IDC, worldwide forecasts for media tablet shipments will grow from 7.6 million units in 2010 to more than 46 million units in 2014. In comparison, the report expects 398 million portable PCs to be shipped in 2014. ‘The availability of apps unique to media tablets and that differentiate the experience of using one compared with a PC or smartphone will be crucial for driving consumer demand,’ said Susan Kevorkian, IDC program director, Digital Marketplace: Mobile Media & Entertainment.”
Rogers announces iPad data pricing

Iain Marlow wriets about Rogers Communications’ pricing plans for the iPad in Canada.
“Rogers will be offering 250 megabytes of data per month for $15, which is the same price as AT&T is offering 250 megabytes in the United States (though AT&T’s is in U.S. dollars, obviously). But while AT&T is offering an unlimited data plan for $30, Rogers is only offering Canadians 5 gigabytes — for $35.”
