VANCOUVER — Sage Software has launched Payment Boss, a service the accounting software vendor feels will enable what will become a growing trend in the small and medium-sized business market: mobile payment.
Payment Boss is a $9.95/month service that leverages a company’s existing merchant account to allow it to collect and process credit card payments mobily, on the road, instead of having to collect the information, and then send it to the office for processing and invoicing.
Instead of relying on a separate mobile terminal, Payment Boss is a software solution that turns any smartphone into a payment processing device. And by building Payment Boss as a Web-based tool instead of an app, it can be used on any smartphone with Web access.
While Payment Boss currently just supports credit card payment, Sage is also looking at adding debit card functionality. Transactions recorded in Payment Boss also automatically synch back into Sage Simply Accounting, for easier bookkeeping.
