Unlike some past years when the top newsmakers of the year were pretty obvious, for 2008 there was quite a bit of spirited debate as the CDN team compiled its list of the Top 25 Newsmakers of the Canadian channel community for 2008.
There was little doubt, however, that 2008 was the year of virtualization. It’s not a new technology to be sure, but it did blow-up in a big way in 2008, with a number of major vendor players validating the technology with their own offerings and channel partners finding good opportunity with virtualization, even in a tightening market.
With virtualization helping to define the year, it’s fitting that a company and an executive that was pushing virtualization before it became hot, VMware Canada’s country manager Grant Aitken, is CDN’s Top Newsmaker for 2008.
Meet Aitken, and our 24 other top channel newsmakers, in the CDN slideshow at this link.
And please let us know how we did. Did the CDN team get it right? Did we miss the boat? Let us know your thoughts, and your picks for 2008’s top channel newsmakers (and why), by e-mailing cdnedit@itworldcanada.com. We may publish your picks in a future article.
