Soaraway PC market growth for 2010, says IDC

Lewis Page writes about the PC market according to research firm, IDC.
“According to IDC’s latest figures the PC market as a whole grew by 2.3 per cent in Q3 after three consecutive quarters of decline. The industry bean-counters expect total shipments worldwide for 2009 to come in at 291.4 million, compared to 287.6 in 2008.”
Dell crunches numbers on Perot deal

Timothy Prickett Morgan shares Brian Gladden, Dell’s chief financial officer’s, forecast of how he thinks the company will do moving forward.
“Looking ahead, Gladden said he believed that Dell could grow revenues between five and seven per cent over the long term and generate operating income at or above seven per cent of revenue while also delivering cash flow from operations that exceeds net income.”
IBM munches BPM maven Lombardi

Timothy Prickett Morgan provides an overview of how IBM’s recent acquisition of Lombardi will affect the company’s product portfolio.
“IBM did not disclose what it paid to get Lombardi, but did say that the Lombardi products would become a unit of the application and integration middleware division in Software Group and that Favaron would be a vice president of that unit, reporting to Hayman. The deal is expected to close in about a month, subject to the normal regulatory approvals.”
