A Toronto-based vendor is looking to conquer the K-12 education market with two new Android tablets, and it’s seeking channel help to make it happen.
Senkatel Corp., a developer of high-performance tablets, HDTV peripherals and consumer electronics products, relocated its headquarters to Toronto from Kiev, Ukraine in June and has recently launched two new Android tablets with features and software targeting the K-12 education market.
According to the vendors, the tablets are designed for both content consumption and creation. The T9702 has a 9.7” 1024×768 LCD screen, and the T1011 has a 10.1” 1280×800 HD-LCD display. Both run an Intel Atom processor and feature In-Plane Switching, a wide viewing angle screen technology for good display quality from any angle, and a capacitive touchscreen.
“Senkatel is addressing the education market’s need for high-quality, affordable tablets with embedded learning and security software”, said Joseph Virginia, president of Senkatel USA, in a statement. “Our T1011 tablet includes both the Intel Education Software package for student learning, as well as the Senkatel TPM security enhancement to enable schools to protect their capital investments by deploying hardware-hardened, theft deterrent solutions.”
Virginia told CDN that Senkatel will be looking for channel partners to help it bring the tablets to market.
“Senkatel’s go-to-market strategy utilizes a two-tier distribution channel with an attractive margin structure for both tiers of participants,” he said. “The company has recently started its North American sales and marketing activities, including relocating its headquarters operations from Kiev, Ukraine to Toronto in June 2013. Senkatel is in the final phases of evaluating several education-specific IT distributors in North Amerrica and will soon announce its channel partner selections.”
The Senkatel TPM suite can be used by school administrators to restrict access to specifically defined websites and their content, as well as enable remote management. And both tablets feature a built-in, battery-free capacitive passive stylus that integrates with the Intel Education Software. Hardware options include a 250X magnification lens for physical science classes and a thermal probe for inquiry-based scientific learning.
The T9702 and T1011 are priced at $219 and $299, respectively, and discounts for volume purchases are available.
