Japanese electronics firm Toshiba Corp. recently rolled out two wireless products which enable users to create their own shared networks for storing and streaming files and media from any device without the need for cables.
The Canvio AeroMobile is a pocket-sized wireless SSD storage device that weighs less than 120 grams but has the capacity to store 128GB of data. And the Canvio Wireless Adapter can transform any hard drive into an accessible network that can allow up to eight users access to data and media files from anywhere, according to Toshiba.
“Our newest storage devices and accessories offer unprecedented convenience and new possibilities for how Canadians can save and store their content, whether they’re taking off on a summer road trip and want to free up space on their tablets and smartphones as they go, or sharing content within a household or small office,” Howard Lee, accessories product manager, Toshiba of Canada, said in a statement.
The Canvio Aero Mobile allows multiple users to upload media instantly, freeing their smartphones, tablets and cameras to take thousands of pictures and video. The device features a built-in rechargeable battery with up to eight hours of battery life for video streaming for extended times away from a power source.
With the built-in SD card slot, users can upload photos and free up SD card space quickly and easily. Its Internet pass-through mode means browsing the web and accessing the Canvio AeroMobile be done simultaneously.
Manufacturer suggested retail price for the Canvio AeroMobile is $179.99.
Meanwhile the Canvio Wireless Adapter can turn any external hard drive into a smart storage device by facilitating wireless sharing and streaming media or meeting materials between devices and providing easy playback features for audio and video files. Users can access the hard drive content from a smart phone, tablet or other wireless device by connecting the Canvio Wireless Adapter to that device wirelessly.
The Canvio Wireless Adapter’s Internet pass-thru mode simultaneously allows users to link smartphones, tablets and PCs to a wireless router. This ensures access to the Wireless Adapter and its hard drive disk contents, as well as connection to the Internet.
The Canvio Wireless Adapter provides simultaneous access on up to eight devices. It is compatible with most smartphones, tablets and PCs with at least iOS5, Android 2.3, Windows 7 and Mac OSX.
MSRP for the Canvio Wireless Adapter is $59.99.
