Israeli network security company Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: CHKP) has launched Check Point Abra, a USB stick-based solution that lets a user plug into their corporate network securely using virtual private network (VPN) client technology from any PC.
When plugged into any third-party PC, the Abra tool creates a secured virtual workspace protected from other programs on the machine, loading a corporate IT-approved desktop based on virtual versions of approved applications found on the host machine. A secure VPN connection is made to the corporate network, and files can also be saved on the stick for offline work. As well, for security purposes, files cannot be moved out of the secure corporate environment onto the host machine.
The tool was developed in cooperation with SanDisk Corp. (NASDAQ: SNDK), and will be available March 31st thru the Check Point retail channel. Check Point’s Canada country manager, Paul Comessotti, explains more in this CDN video:
